Waitomo Room Tour

Cute cabin at the top of a hill (380m elevation). The roads to get there were “barely” paved, single lane, and at a 45 degree incline in parts. But … wow.

Evening light was magical. But from 10pm to 4am the wind was vicious. And at 5am the sky opened up and things were so loud and crazy everyone woke up to lightning, thunder, rain so hard you thought it was hail, and wind so loud you sometimes thought it was still raining.

In the morning there was still a few small wind gusts, but I’d say only 20% of the force that woke us in the night.
