First 24 hours in Istanbul

Last night we had tea on the rooftop terrace and heard the dueling (call-and-response) call to prayer from the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. It was exactly what I came here for. Lovely.

Turns out we have arrived during Eid Al-Adha so it’s a bit of a big deal with families dressed up walking through the streets.

For dinner we decided to walk around and see where the wind takes us. We arrived on a very busy street - but a “stop-and-slow traffic” kind of busy. Every restaurant had someone on the road talking us up to eat there. It was intense.

We settled on a place with a small family and big comfy cushions. We had a nice little feast then headed back to finish watching a moving we started in NYC.

That night, I alone went to a Turkish Bath for a scrub down and massage. More on that in another post.

Next morning we go to the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque!
